I am not saying there is no fault by the average person...
What I am saying though is the only people in a position to do anything about it is the medical profession.

Consider this if you will. The medical profession has long enjoyed a favored place in society. Favored meaning respected and granted privilage. One can look at almost any society and the "healer" has always been highly respected.

However, somewhere along the line respected turned into something that could be used to generate wealth. But more importantly, the AMA (American Medical Association) figured out that if you limit the number of health providers (doctors) their value went up and they could charge much more.

Of course limiting the number of doctors meant limited time so things like a "house call" went to the way side, an industrial approach to health care (assembly line like waiting rooms and exams), and institutional systems (hospitals) were put into place. All of this in the name of progress of course.

The fact is it bacame so bad and expensive the average person couldn't afford health care. Ta Da, here come the insurance companies. Insurance companies deal in dollars, nothing more. It's their very reason to exist. After all, how many surgons do you know that would trade say four hours of their surgery time in trade for say a carpenter spending two weeks to build them a garage? (Zero that I know of.) It all comes down to the dollars.

Given that it's all about the dollars, no one should be suprised to see tech companies looking for a way to obtain a chunk of those dollars for themselves by offering more technology to the doctors and insurance companies.

Tis a vicious circle and the ONLY ones that can break it is the medical profession. But given that they go to extreme lengths to limit the number of care givers, I don't see anything changing in the near future...
