I cannot argue your case, however, I think it is worth while to understand how the consumer plays into this as well. When an OB/GYN must pay out over six figures anually for malpractice insurance, that expense must be covered. When we demand technology over humanity, that expense must be covered. When we sign up for insurance to "protect us" from the abuse and over charging in the medical field, we feed the beast.

This issue has become a three headed beast. Personally, I find the care givers to be the least ugly of the three.
