I think you misunderstand my point.
The medical profession has worked hand in glove with the insurance people to financial betterment of the medical profession. (Trust me, I am not the one making a penny from either.)

The fact that dollars has become the only real yardstick in the profession for the vast majority of those in it means that dollars are the measure of success. Does it then surprise me that dollars becomes the goal and saving them in any possible way means more of them? Not at all and I am certain that as we move forward the bean counters will use technology to further the separation of "good medicine" from the goal of making more dollars. That is what the medical profession has wanted for a very, very long time.

The fact of the matter is that as an outsider there is little or nothing I can do to change the situation at all. I sure can't tell my insurance company to kiss off anymore than I can tell my doctor too. (Well not if I want to live a long healthy life.) However there is one group that can change everything almost over night if they wanted and that sir is the medical profession. If the AMA stood up and said no, we aren't going along with it any further the insurance companies and the technology companies looking to make dollars from them would have no choice but to listen.

In truth I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen
