one of the good things of IBM solutions, is the high quality in their h/w products. They take RAS VERY seriously. And it seems to me so do the railroad folks in Germany. Nobody said that it is 'cheap'. But if you want cheap, then you better also want unreliable, downtimes, etc.

If you cost out the downtimes or lost revenue and increased cost of maintaining a less reliable system, then don't get surprised if you realize that the IBM Solution is not more expensive.

Having said the above, I am not claiming that IBM wont try to make a huge profit if they know that they can pull it off.

People need to know what they need, how much they can afford and negotiate (as usual)
