It's About Time
IT's about time for Motorola to get the leadership it needs to restore it's position in the technical world. I worked in the semiconductor division for twenty years and was part of the success story that later went south with the changing of the guard. I can only pin point a single factor during the buildup of the semiconductor division that kept it from being a major player in the PC deveopment. When IBM went shopping for the first 8bit microprocessor to power the first PC they came to Motorola first. They were interested in the hot 6809 processor (you know the one that only ended up in the RadioShack Color Computer), but there was a catch, they wanted to buy into the semicondutor division and Motorola told them no. They went an bought into that stuggling little company know as Intel and the rest is history.
