- You have two choices with multi-core - either shut one/more down or run them all at 100% in a Grid. If you don't have the workload needed to keep the Grid busy, then you have TOO MANY CORES! I think its dumb to put this in a laptop anyway - just how many "high-powered" applications can run on a laptop? Oracle? Heavy user Apache? NASTRAN? We both know that laptops rarely run anything besides Office - which already DOESN'T need a fast CPU . . .
