Slavish following of routines
How true. I had a frustrating 4 weeks of trying to get a hard drive replaced in my laptop. Each time I rang, I had to start at the top of the computer screen and answer all the same questions. Ironically, one of them was to confirm address, which was wrong. Having corrected it at during the first call, I had to correct it again in the subsequent calls, which probably accounts for why they had to send 3 disks before I got one!

The call centre clerks are just that - clerks. They have no technical knowledge so cannot "jump" to the logical place in the dialogue; it has to be started from the beginning (presumably because their computer system does not allow them access to question 2 until they have answered question 1.

What a palavour. Never again! No more Dells for me whilst they use Indian Call centres (or anywhere that does not provide access to qualified technical staff if the initial call has not resolved the problem).
