India service does not work
I have had numerous occasions to call Dell service. I have had very bad service from the India centers. The most frequent problems are that the Indian service people pretend like they understand English, but don't, and Dell makes the false assumption that you can put anyone on a phone with an instruction book and they become a useful service person.

These are some examples:
1. Service personnel who cannot understand English, but bluff. I ask "Do you want me to do A or B?" Service person "Yes."

2. Extreme solutions to problems: "You have to reinstall your operating system." And "You have to reformat your hard drive [and lose all your data]." In both cases I found other solutions.

3. Lack of ability to think through a problem. I will call after listing all the tests and symptoms, which should allow the service person to narrow down the problem. Instead, they always start from scratch and have to look up each step. "First do x." I do x. "What do you see?" I see y. Long pause. Pages rustle. "Just a moment." Long pause. "Now do z." Long pause.... etc., and so on until the problem is not fixed and they refer me to someone back in the United States.
