I don't know if the X86 version was free but the SPARC version has been for quite sometime. Technically the X86 version was free too but you has to order on Media pack for $20 as it wasn't available for download. Now it is and I just finished downloading it. We use it on all all our sparc hardware so why not try it on X86 hardware.
