Prescott... the new P4
To message #1
The new P4 has new operating instructions and a larger cache to increase the performance over the 512k L2 cache processors currently available but not outperform the 3.2GHz EE except at higher speeds. The EE will still outperform the 'New P4' in certain area's that make use of the large cache.

Yes... they made the pipeline stages longer. This does lead to less per clock but at a higher clock it makes up for them. It will require alot of power but so will what AMD will have to offer. Unfortunately right now, the only 64bit windows that is out right now will NOT run on the A64FX as it was made for the Itanium. Also... UT2k4 is coming out in March of 2004 which. Longhorn will come out in 2005 and the A64FX will be obsolete by then.

Some motherboards read the thermal diode in the processor too high by the translator's algorithm set incorrectly. I have a P4 2.4B (B0) and it runs 32*C idle and a max of 41*C full load. I run it full load 24/7 running UD agent to help research cancer.

Other than that... we need to get back on topic.
