it has some hardware to help, yes, but
it does have s0ome hardware to help IA32 execution, but it is not even close to being a processor core, let alone anything that could be called an x86 core.

The hardware is so pitiful that intels IA-32 Execution Layer software was released, and is used to make the IA-32 performance better on itanium2 processors. Bascially the extra bit of hardware put in is so bad that software emultion actually gets it done faster.
