Firewire does have a Firewire 800 spec, which also isn't compatible with Firewire 400. Firewire 400 is the spec that most PCs with firewire ports have. I have seen Firewire 800 cards for PCs, but I have yet to get one to work.
Oh, and for those of you how haven't been following Firewire. Firewire or Firewire 400 transfers at 400 Mbps. Firewire 800 transfers at 800 Mbps.
and lastly for all of those who think that Firewire 400 is faster than USB 2.0, you are wrong. However, USB 2.0 uses much more CPU than Firewire, so your PC can perform other tasks when a Firewire device, where with USB 2.0, you might as well wait. - Posted by: nucrash Posted on: 03/08/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
