Is it really that much?
Dell charges an extra $70 for XP Pro. So one would guess that they get half of that. But not many home users are going to buy XP Pro. They don't need it. And most businesses go through their sales people, so they work the price a little better. I know we don't pay that much more for XP Pro.

I would venture to guess that Office is the same way. I don't know of many home users that need Office.
