USB vs Firewire
Actually, I had always thout that USB 2.0 overtook firewire because it was backwards-compatible; You could take your USB 2.0 cord and device and hook it into an (older) USB 1.0 (or was it 1.1?) slot, no problem. With firewire, you'd probably have to buy a card to add soem firewire ports to said computer. Not to mention that firewire cables are pricey compared to USB cables.
