I looked it up
On the Intel website - and since the Adobe reader won't let me cut and paste (funny . . .), let me paraphrase. There is an IA-32 "engine" that uses the cache and registers of the IA-64 stuff - but it decodes and runs x86 instructions. This is a specific HARDWARE implementation of x86 - although it does leverage some IA-64 "parts".

So its NOT a P4 core - its a P4 core without the registers and cache - but with "intelligence" to use the IA-64 registers and cache. So is that a good enough reason to claim there is a P4 core in Itanic?
