First, let's be clear on one thing - Intel has already shipped 10X the number of 64bit X86 chips just by their shear ramp volume.

On the desktop, I would agree that AMD have outshipped Intel. However, you and I know that lead will evaporate in a nanosecond once the ramp begins. But really, who is running 64bit desktop? The five propeller heads that goes to Frys to run 64 bit Linux OS and then a 32bit application underneath it? The point is, essentially all of Opteron sales run in 32bit mode and selling into the Athlon installed base. That's why AMD share is fairly constant. 64bits is a joke in the desktop at least for another few years.
