- I worked for intel, so I know
-
Hello All,
I worked for intel.
I worked in the gold plating dept.
The whole company used to have to go to meetings every few weeks because the processors were not passing final inspection.
76-78% of the CPUs were mostly scrap.
A few were reworkable.
Main problems: Bent pins, missing pins, poor grinding, you name it.
Too bad I couldn't have worked for AMD.
Since I knew about the problems with inferior intel CPUs, you better believe my first computer was AMD all the way. I have had 3 AMD processors and NEVER had a problem yet.
I had a computer repair class teacher purchase 10 Pentium 4 CPUs.
I told him about me working for them.
Guess what, out of the 10, 1 had a missing pin and 1 had a bent pin that was able to be pushed back so it would fit the socket.
You just had to be there to see the expression on his face.
I can't believe final inspection did not catch the 2 bad ones.
I'm not saying 20% of the ones you would purchase will be defective. This is just my experiences with them.
I will never buy from Dell or anyone else for that matter as I build my own computers now.
Just thought I would chime in and add my two cents, since I was an Insider.
AMD Rocks.
