Inaccuracy in reporting
"Microsoft has plans to deliver a 64-bit version of its Windows XP operating system for Athlon 64 desktops. Once that software is available, consumers will be able to make the step up to 64 bits"

1) The whole point of AMD's chip design is that both 32 and 64-bit software will run on it natively. You don't need to wait for Windows XP Athlon 64 edition. You can run 32-bit Windows on it now.

2) Better yet, you can have a 64-bit OS running on the chip now. Even though Windows isn't available for the Athlon 64 yet, Linux is (and has been for a while now).

This writer would have readers thinking they must wait for Windows' 64-bit edition for Athlon64. Not only is this not true, but it is unnecessarily biased towards "the monopoly". Please include all relevant information to the topic at hand.

Please note: this is not anti-MS rant - the article discusses availability of Athlon 64 systems, then proceeds to indicate that though the hardware is available, the consumer must wait for Windows 64-bit. Tell us what *is* available now, as well as what is lagging behind.
