... have the same problem as software makers: the world already has most of what it wants from a pc.
Leave aside gamers, who are always looking for a faster machine. Leave aside people who have to run heavyweight applications which could benefit from faster machines.
How many people do you have left to go for higher quality? The salespeople are already concentrating on bells and whistles, as with media. They can also persuade people to buy more than they need. But that's about all.
On the business side, a lot of companies are specifying the functionality needed, and using the lowest capacity machine that will do what they need.
Everyone is looking for something a computer can do to justify new investment.
Otherwise, you're competing on price.
