When a large "customer" such as GM, FORD, etc. purchase thousands of computers - a good number of them need to view large files (4+ Gb). Windoze 32bit can only handle about 3.5Gb - and only after some registry twiddling - it won't do it automatically. Also, many motherboards just don't have the DIMM slots to support that much memory (at 1Gb max DIMM).

If AMD HAS to support those business customers, why not just do it for everyone? BTW, the gaming that is possible with 64 bit memory space is just awesome! If you build it, they will come.
