- ??? How much of Dell's sales...
-
go to "captive" business vs individual buyers who actually make an informed and educated choice?
Much of the 90%+ mind share hyped about Windows is overblown (ie, multiple unused licenses, Windows wiped for alternate OS, etc) and a captive audience that relies on the tens of thousands (millions?) of "office drones" that work and use what their IT people (a relative small number vs number of users) have chosen and plopped in front of them.
Sure, Dell can boast of billions earned but I just wonder how much is truly earned and not the result of that automatic, "captive" (MS/Windows) business audience? The "No one ever got fired for buying MS (Wintel)" mantra... though the question should be "Why has no one been fired for such poor decision making?" (costing suggested billions of $$$ in unnecessary downtime and inflated support costs thru use of suspect MS "solutions")
If MS didn't have the business world by the short hairs, would Dell be anywhere near as cocky and successful?
A serious question... - Posted by: MacCanuck Posted on: 01/19/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
