- What's a Fad?

To me a FAD is just something everyone wants at the time because everyone else has the product. After short time the desire for the product dies.
Portable music been around for sometime. Starting with the transistor radio, portable table players, portable CD players, portable MP3 players, and now the IPOD is just another technology doing the same thing. That's a FAD that lasted 50+ years with no sign of stopping.
Feature packed Cellphones are the FAD. I know I wouldn't want a Cellphone with me when I'm cycling but I would like music capability. If I have a cellphone then I have no excuse for not answering a call. Personally I'd rather leave the phone at home and take the music with me. Now it's neat to have a camera, phone, internet, messaging, bluetooth, music player, kitchen sink and all on my phone but I don't need it.
