- Office 2003 Not Needed
- Office 2003 is overkill. I build so many PCs for friends, and friends of friends, and their relatives, and 2nd cousins, and great aunts, etc that I can't keep count. So far, not a single one of them has ever had a need for the latest, greates version of MS Office. That especially holds true for those that aren't used to using PCs or the Internet. I either load an old copy of Office 97, or an alternative like Lotus Smartsuite which you can get for about $10, or Open Office which is free. Most people could care less, especially since they don't tend to share documents. If they share anything, other than e-mails that is, it's photos. Go to Best Buy and see what section has the greatest size... the one for office productiviy software, word processors, etc... or the section for video editing, photo enhancement software. That tells you what people are intested in.
