BINGO!
Finally, somebody really does get it. I've run into hundreds of AOL users over the years and 99% of them never make it out of the chat rooms, IM's, or AOL's email section. A disturbingly large number of them don't even realize they can minimize the AOL browser or that there's a desktop behind it. AOL wants it that way. They manipulate unsavvy users into total dependency on the pretense of simplifying the online experience for them. More like controlling the online experience for them. AOL doesn't want it's users to learn XML, HTML, or even know how to get to their desktop and operate a program without their interference. And if you took a poll, most average family home users on AOL would have zero interest in learning anything that wouldn't benefit their chat room or online IM experience.
