But not a commodity
Apple is moving into the commodity market, but not with a dull
commodity with shared memory and cheap parts. That's going
to be the difference with the Mac mini - it presents itself as a
quality item to consumers, is prices and packaged as a non-
threatening purchase and will be an impulse buy for many.

PC-iPod users will probably be a huge percentage of sales and
they get one (at almost the price of an iPod) to see what the rest
of Apple is about. Mac users will get one for the hell of it.

People fighting battles with their PC will find it easy to adopt the
mini. Parents with kids away at school will discover iSight as a
neat way to keep up with the kids.

People working with PCs, but interested in what OS X is about
can get one for a cheap price and play for hours with it.

Definitely a commodity price, but far from a commodity.
