Agree and good points.
Itanium is a great architecture targeted at very high end computing - not workstations. Basically, the article offered nothing new about HP and elaborated that Itanium is failing ina market it is not targted at - workstations.

I agree with many of your points. EPIC is a great architecture that will compete with other great architectures in the high end (RISK arch's).

Us schmucks are stuck with another 30 years of the now 20 year old X86 because compatibility with Windows is more important and software has never kept up with HW advances.

Your points about Itanium being SLOW? Not sure what datapoint your are using but it ranks amoungst the fastest in the world in it's intended market. If it's about how fast it compares running Windows, well, it's like saying Power5 is slow also.
