Yeah i can understand that, and the thing that drives me nuts tho, any new cell phone that's coming out now, especially if it's a dual-mode phone like CMDA and GSM then you shouldn't have a problem carrying that phone from different services. If you have a4 year old phone that's just using CDMA-1 and isn't even a dual-mode or tri-mode then i can understand a carrier not wanting to support it.

I'm a stickler about cell phone, i prefer to use my audivox 9100 it's a 2 year old phone, but it's tri-mode and should be able to go to a couple of different carriers but i'm happy with verizon wireless. Plus, i know audiovox isn't the most feature packed phone but i'll survive quite a lot of abuse from being dropped, walked on, etc...
