The problem is...
I like Linux, I really do, but it seems that this product is not really very useful now.

No hand writting recognition? While many have complained about Windows XP Tablet PC Edition's handwritting recognition (from the models I've tested it work great for me) not being very good, it at least was in there.

End user Linux products (something that you take out of the boc and use without having to recompile the OS) still have two major problems:

1) They exist only somebody garage. Case in point, MythTV, which looks like a really nice media convergance shell for Linux. Problem, you have to build it, and it's not easy.

2) A promising product like this one, a tablet form factor, comes already well behind what's already available. Yes, the Linux product is cheaper, but still behind the state of the art. So a person or company that going to invest in this technology and really needs it and willing to pay for it, isn't going the Linux route.

When will a Linux non-server product come out that really pushes the envelope, by having ease of use and features that excel beyond what's available commercially?

Otherwise, Linux is just going to the platform that's cheaper, but with no value add.
