An much more fundamental limit...

A much more fundamental limit is the price of the chip fab. At the going rate it will be impossible to get a positive return on a chip design long before Moore's law is reached - the chip fab will simply be too expensive to ever make a profit. The chips will never be made.

No, instead of ever increasing chip speed we'll see a rethink of the way a computer works. More parallelism, more work offloaded onto specialized coprocessors. This is already happening with things like graphics and sound - obvious targets for this sort of thing.
