Very true and I agree, this is the next step.
As I said above, a problem of controlling those photons AFAIK resorts back to transistors. How does one shape light without transistors at that scale? Then, once that problem is solved, how do you make a microprocessor that is small an compact when you cannot bend light more than the critical angle of the medium used for the light to travel through. Sharp 90 degree bends or more are impossible. While a bend can be achieved with the end result being 90 degrees, completing that bend would take up a lot of space.

Maybe the answer is Quantum Physics
