Today the XBox, tomorrow the desktop? Copying Apple's use of IBM risc chips would be a logical step for Microsoft. The G5 and OS X offers today much of what Longhorn promises to deliver in a few years.

But would that mean that MS would give up some plans for putting a death grip on hardware using things like the recently announced DRM infected Phoenix Bios?

WinRisc? No, I don't think Intel would set still for that.
