Hey, wake up!
Dell is doing better than IBM in the US but ask anybody outside the US about IBM brand name. Most of the time, the IBM brand name for them carries a lot of weight in terms perception and high-quality.

IBM was not selling as well as Dell in the US because its products here were priced higher than Dell's.

But in China, it is going to be a completely different story. Lenovo being the biggest player in China is going to sell PCs under the name of IBM at the same price or lower than Dell and it will mean Dell is in deep s*** in China, Asia, and Europe.

If a distributor offered me IBM PCs for the same price or less than Dell PCs for the same features (comparing apple with apple), I will buy IBM PCs at least nine out of ten times.

I have owned an IBM brand and a Dell brand before and IBM comes out on top in terms of technical and setup reliability on these machines. For the same price or less for the same feature, I will choose the IBM brand without a doubt.

The IBM-Lenovo combination is going to bring the cost down and it is going to give Dell a lot to worry about.
