Apple's deserved return to the enterprise...
Rumor has it IBM is getting in bed with Apple. Call it the ultimate
battle of the nerds. With all the bad press about Windows
vulnerabilities, out of control pop-ups, too many ports left open
by default, using its browser (Internet Explorer) as the operating
system updater, etc, enterprise is looking for alternatives and
Linux isn't it.

IBM already makes the chips for the Mac G5. OS X is an
incredibly innovative, elegant, rock solid operating system,
unlike the spaghetti code known as Windows. Also, being UNIX,
Apple has broadened its appeal to a much larger audience.
Besides, IBM still hasn't forgiven Bill Gates, nor Steve Jobs for
that matter, for what he did to them in the nineties. Stealing,
copying and coercion is what made Microsoft successful, not
innovation, great ideas or quality. Windows is really getting long
in the tooth and Longhorn is still just vaporware.

If you put an IBM label on an Apple computer, enterprise will use
it and Apple will rise again to prominence. One has to get the
impression Apple is doing everything right and Microsoft
continues to shoot itself in the foot time after time. Weirder
things have been known to happen in IT. Apple has finally
succeeded in impressing a lot of people and most important,
enterprise.
