But in the new age of modern non Char operating systems, windows will continue to grow and dominate. Linux has quite a way to go just in and the underlying command line.terms of the smooth integration between its UI

Linux is still very much like windows 3.1 was when it came out. Just a shell running on top of the command line, and thats obvious just in how it feels whenevr you utilize KDE or Gnome.

As far as being a Unix replacement as a plain jane command line DB OS, I think most nix advocates would have to agree that Unix is the preffered over linux.
