I beg to differ.. You can download the kernel source (for free like FreeBSD). Most admins take this route.

In my case I downloaded and installed linux on 20 rack web servers. See how your figures are skewed.

If you goto http://netcraft.com you will notice that Microsoft is on the decline once again with web server presence.
