If you really want to see how it works, build one of your own. Google for "Stirling Engine" and you'll find a buttload of different plans. As an aside, I'm glad that the press is finally getting around to reporting it. NASA has been running these critters for a couple of years now. The genius in this design/concept is that it's so blindingly simple...
