Dell in India
I recently decided to purchase a Dell for the first time for my home. I've owned a couple of other brand name computers before, and worked with Dell in my office. At the time of working with Dell, customer support was excellent. As a matter of fact, that's what drove me to purchase a computer from them.

And then, came the time to order the computer. My first call was directed to India (which I just thought it was just someone who just moved to the US. The customer rep did not speak good english. This lead to a lot of confusion and headaches.

First, the customer rep placed the wrong CPU on order for me.

Second, customer service said they tried to contact me (that same night/morning) to no avail. I find this hard to believe, because they had my cell phone # and it was never turned off. And, since they couldn't reach me they cancelled my order without even contacting me. This caused some financial strain on me because I used a debit card to pay for it, and my bank showed it as a pending transaction. Which basically meant that I could not use that money until 3-5 days later when that amount wasn't claimed by Dell.

Third, they kept transfering me to a different section in which that person said they had to transfer me to someone else.

It would seem to me, that if I wanted to talk to someone outside the US I would dial their number. I'm an American, and I expect to talk to someone who understands me and I understand them.
