RE: AMD has their act together...
AMD has been more focused on the future technology of maximizing the x86 potential by improving effiency of FSB (i.e. hypertransport) and core bandwidth since the initial rollout of the K7 core.

Intel on the other hand is a much more diversified company, and focused on the next generation technology which was adopted too slowly since backward compatilbility was lost. Focus was on improving P3 core and FSB raw power and speed instead of architecture P4 was born.

It is clear AMD is on the right track the real question is what will Intel do? With a new CEO and perhaps a corporate restructure of R&D and marketing, will they again take the lead in CPU technology? Who knows, maybe they can improve on Nocona and even merge hyperthreading to boost performance.

Will we see a ATI / Nvidia technology CPU war? If so it will drive desktop costs really, really low. .. And that is good for everybody.
