Where did you get that figure? You mean speciality code (apps) running under multiple operating systems correct? Every one of those nodes has to be under control of some form of operating system.
As for Linux, I'm far from a snobby know it all, I've only been playing around with Linux for a few months, thus the "broaden your horizon" remark. They both have their place, but one shouldn't judge too quickly until both have been analyzed. For now, I and my pocketbook like what I see in the open source communities.
