Windows 95?!?!
I put Windows 95 on par with Windows Me for stability. It was a pain! I would not touch either of them with a 10 foot pole. Windows 98 as well. Give me anything based on the NT kernel if I have to use M$ Windows.

As for Linux, I'm trying to get into it myself as I know Open Source is a good way to go as it is stable and reliable, depending on your knowledge of the OS and how you set it up.

Don't think you can set up a web server or mail server on it overnight and think it's going to work. That's why so many people like Windows, the GUI works for them. But there are others comfortable with Console and they build solid, stable servers with Linux.
