Yes, as far as the average consumer goes
Since we can't give up our 32-bit compatiblity mode, we the common people did not go with the Itanic. However it is a completely revamped architecture that is similiar to RISC in *nix big-boys and seems to whip the pants off them. So Itanium earns the bragging right of ultra-computing while we, the people buy AMDs x86-64 to enjoy the best of 32/64 environments (which seems to best Intel's Nocona btw)
