Don't Underestimate Dell
Dell is looking like the only successful PC company on a large scale - they are the only one of the top 3 that makes a profit from PCs, and they are the only one that actually makes PCs as opposed to the outsourcing at HP and IBM.
Corporate and public sector customers make up the bulk of their customers, and they are more concerned about a stable and repeatable experience than a 5% faster anything. The cost of managing a 10,000 unit environment will escalate dramatically if any little thing changes. Most of the cubicle drones at the end of the keyboard are just typing email and making little spreadsheets when they're not bidding on eBay, so performance just isn't what carries the day.
