Nanotech drawbacks need to be explored...
For one thing, I'm not so sure I want my socks impregnated with silver. Depending on how your body absorbs it, you can get heavy-metal like poisoning.

Bucky Balls are not necessarily safe. Advance studies show that they have some bad effects on fish that were totally unexpected, given that most of the scientists involved in their manufacture assume they are inert and would merely clump and drop out of suspension when they contaminated water.

Assumptions make weird bedfellows, as in the COX-2 inhibitor non-studies. Inflamation in the human body generates COX-1 and COX-2 compounds. It was assumed that COX-2 because it occurred in such small amounts and seemed to cause swelling and pain was a bad item to have. It actually prevents unwanted blood clotting in inflamation.

A sample of under-studied assumptions which will probably lead to all COX inhibitors being pulled from the market because everyone taking them has been subjected to a massive beta test. It's not lethal when you do it with computer software, in real life it can have deadly consequences.
