I agree, to a point
Yes, programmers that just churn out code a mile a minute will be easy to come by, just like laborers that use sewing machines will be easy to come by.

However, actual "developers", those that are able to gather proper requirements and deal with customers, using proper English, as well as doing more than just following strict programming guidelines, will always be more valuable than just "programmers".

I'm in this field now, and I provide much more than just programming. I provide an interface between customers, help with thinking outside the box, and come up with solutions. People in my field that add more value than just programming, which is really a different field called "solution developer", will always have value.
