In truth, he's right. There never was a surplus.
Each year, even under Pres. Clinton, the total
US *debt* went up. That means we had to be
spending more money than we took in, which is
the definition of an annual deficit.

How could President Clinton claim there was a
surplus? Because, as has been the case for
many years, the Social (in)Security surplus
is counted as revenue -- but it is spent,
government bonds are issued, but somehow they
'forget' to count the obligation of the bonds
against the deficit.

Folks, we're in real trouble as the Ponzi
scheme known as Social Security comes crashing
down. Recent government figures show that the
government has racked up obligations of
$73 trillion... seven times the GCP (gross
domestic product). (see www.scottburns.com ,
and his column of October 3, 2004)

How do we survive this when both Republicans
and Democrats seem hell-bent on spending
more and more money each year? I'm voting
Libertarian, because I don't believe in
stealing from future generations to pay
for goodies today.
