This IS the truth - and I'm scared.
As you say, Bony Tryan, there are many
conflicting statements here. There are a
few facts that are apparent. These chips
do not carry medical, financial, or any
other record. I Googled the company that
makes the VeriChip, and found them at:

www.adsx.com/prodservpart/verichip.html

According to their website, ". . . each
VeriChip product contains a unique
verification number and will be
available in several formats." So all
this is, in truth, is a means of
identifying a person.

The website also has this to say:

"In the security field, the company is
actively developing applications for
VeriChip in a variety of security,
defense, homeland security and
secure-access applications."

"The Company recently unveiled VeriPass(
tm) and VeriTag(tm), which will allow
airport and port security personnel to
link a VeriChip subscriber to his or her
luggage (both during check-in and on the
airplane), flight manifest logs and
airline or law enforcement software
databases."

Wait a minute, in two short paragraphs,
taken verbatim from the manufacturer's
public website, we went from the press
release statement, "The company is
targeting the devices at patients
suffering from Alzheimer's disease,
diabetes, cardiovascular disease and
other conditions requiring complex
treatment" to using it to link to law
enforcement software databases.

Not scared yet? Hey, I'm a law abiding
citizen, so why do I care if law
enforcement can identify me? Actually, I
have some faith in our government, but I
am alarmed by the sweeping powers it's
gaining in the name of security.

If you aren't worried by the government
having this technology, think about
this. Hackers have already proved that
no database is totally safe, and
criminals steal identity every day. A
chip in my arm that can be read by a
$650.00 scanner, a scanner that the
manufacturer wants to give away, can
only make it easier to get the
information needed to steal my identity.

Yes, this chip is only a means of
identification, and that may not be a
bad thing. but now think on this - 60
years ago a number was tattooed on the
arms of Jews, Gypsies, the mentally
retarded, and other "undesirables" only
as a means of identification.

The use this chip until now has been for
identifying pets and other animals. That
does not scare me. The idea of using it
to identify medical patients is only a
little alarming. The uses that we are
told it will be put to are slightly more
unsettling. The uses it COULD be put to
- that is what scares me.

--==*==--

Do not believe what I say - check it out
for yourself, look it up, find the
truth. Don't let me do your thinking for
you, I've got all I can do to think for
myself.
