not sure which is cheating...
Okay, so AMD has a cpu that runs at a slower speed, but gives it a performance-based name. Intel, on the other hand, has a cpu that runs at the speed that it is designated, but not nearly as efficiently.
So, if one runs at a slower speed, and runs at or better than the cpu it is marketed against, does that mean that, though it is a superior chip, because the speed doesn't match, they are not as good?
I still think that when cpus are benchmarked, they should be benchmarked against chips run at the same speed. This would not only show that AMD makes the superior chip, but it would also make the differences between an P4 3.2GHz and an Athlon 3.2 running at 2.2GHz would appear quite trivial.
One other thing: What happened to Intel's thought process that cpu speed is becoming meaningless?
