"Opinions on the importance of raw processor clock speed differ. Where Intel has always emphasized the speed of its high-end desktop processors--saying the Pentium 4's extra speed helps boost the performance of multimedia applications--other chipmakers, like rival Advanced Micro Devices, maintain that overall performance, measured by the work a chip can accomplish per clock cycle, is more important."

Opinion of very "logic" and "competent" people is that the most important thing is how many steps we make to get to the same office where we work. If a person makes far more steps on the same way reaching office at the same moment as his/her counterpart who uses far larger step that means they are faster. So if you make your steps on thread mill and don't get anywere then you are the fastest person in the world.

That much for opinions of Intel. They do not mean anything in logic thinking yet they are so respected by some idiots frequently posting idiotic news. Yes, opinions vary. In particular they vary on IQ level of some people.

The processing power and clock speed is not scientific fact. It is a basic term coming from every discipline of life... just translated to computing wording. Yet some have so narrow view that thay value that as almost magic knowledge that might require scientific degrees and tents of years of experience.

Good luck
