DELL = CRAP TRUE CASE HERE
I purchased a Dell Insprion 8100 back in 2001 on for my birthday. Well as the frist year came Where you plug the headphone in for extral sound the connector busted. I called tech support and they had me send it into the Depot for repair. I sent it in about a week later i recivied my machine back only to find out this is just the begining of the end of this machine. When i had recived it back i plugged everything back up to it and turned it on. To my amazement the video was all garbled and not working i called and yet again it was sent back to the depot. 1 week later recived it back. Over the course of the next 2 years the following party have had to be replaced. 3 mainboards for the same problem of the audio connector. 1 main board for video. 1 backlight lamp for lcd. Finally the problem that doomed this machine for good. One day i had tried to install FFXI Online. Error cant read disc I tried to refomat the system thinkign somethign was wrong with the OS. Everytime i tried to load the system from any of the following CD Windows 2000/ Windows xp home/ windows xp pro/ windows 2003 Same error Code Error Code 7. I done some reaserach on the error come to find out it deal with the acpi function of the bios or bad memeory. SO i called up tech support after I ran a memory test on the system memeory tested fine I had the orignall system ram and ran a test on it and test fine I disable the system acpi function and still the same error. I called tech support they had me run there diag software on the machine and everything test fine. they sent me a new hard drive. (When does a hard drive have to deal with acpi fucntion or ram.) Next week recivied the hard drive still no solution. They had me check the cd even though i had tried those lised above and they came to the next conclusion i needed a replacment cd of the os. Sent me that and still no resoultion. So far working on 3 weeks of time. They finally had me send the machine into the depot again. I sent it in with abosulty all the hard ware regardless of what they said. They pulled out my harddrive and put in there test hard. Came to the conclusion that my hard drive was bad. but if it was bad and they sent me a replacemtn ment should that take care of the problem. I recivied the computer back in a non working state. what good was it to send it in if i didnt get it fixed. up to 4 weeks of no laptop for work. A little irrate now i call and not the happiest of all people with them acutally i am very rude to them at this point i dont care. The customore service rep refused to let me speak to a supervisor after i told him i was not hanign up until i got a superivisor even if i spent the next 6 hrs waiting i would wait with him on phone till i spokke to one. After about 45 min of waiting a supervisor spoke to one. He decided through all the troubles i have had with this machine they would build me a new system and ship it to me as a replacment i was pleased with that decision. Well after about a month and half of being down I have recived my new laptop. Well after taking it out on its frist business trip the system seems to be overheating and not to mention the Audio system control on the laptop are now non functioning and so everyone had to listen to god awfull loud windows start up everytime i had to start it up. My best advice is dont buy a dell. If you want a dell that bad just go dig up some cow poo and through it in a computer case and you will be getting what you paid for.
