HARD is the word.
It would be very HARD to convince people to use a hardware-based solution from an unknown company. Transmeta is having a hard time - and they're much better funded and visable. Actually, shouldn't the code-morphing technology of the Crusoe processor, be able to morph to java bytecode?

Hardware solutions are the ULTIMATE lock-in. Windoze tries to lock people in, but you can load some other OS, and you avoid the lock-in. Most people don't like lock-in. It means that you need service contracts from little-known companies with no track record, that are charging an arm and a leg.

The best bet for this java machine is in consumer devices such as cellphones and Palm pilots. Big server iron will be very slow in adopting this.
